In the path of a real myth and lost in the place of the beach of Vila Chã, we look for the women of the sea called “pescadeiras”, in one of the few places of the world with arrai (skipper) women. But where are they? And where are the 120 artisanal fishing boats? There are 9 boats and a single fishing woman. In land of brave people of the sea, the passion of fishing, the passion of the sea is filmed.
Filmed on the beach of Vila Chã, in Vila do Conde, on the women-arrais, or “pescadeiras”, considered as unique case in the whole world. Here they are represented by Gloria, the only woman who, after so many years and so many adversities, still dares to face the sea. Through interviews and several conversations where the past is remembered, the director reveals how these women defied tradition and obtained fishing licenses, dedicating their life to a male-dominated profession.
